WHAT IS SHARED COMPUTER ACTIVATION (SCA)
Microsoft has enabled Shared Computer Activation (SCA) mode in Office 365 so that multiple Office 365 ProPlus, Visio or Project users can share the same hardware.
This important change to Office 365 licensing makes it possible to deliver Office 365 servcies via shared access solutions, including remote desktop services or Citrix in 3 new deployment options:
- Dedicated self-hosted (on-premise) – System is run and operated within your own dedicated internal IT systems.
- Dedicated third-party hosted – Hosted within Acuutech’s IaaS platform.
- Windows Azure environment – Deployed within Azure IaaS.
Through support for Office 365 within hosted environments you can take advantage of the great feature set and rolling capability enhancements of Office 365, while leveraging the performance, availability and flexibility of hosting your users Office 365 applications, via our fully managed virtual desktop services with either Acuutech’s state of the art datacenter’s or Azure.
What Office versions support Shared Computer Activation?
Shared Computer Activation mode works with Office 365 ProPlus. All Office 365 plans that include Office 365 ProPlus are able to use Shared Computer Activation.

The main outcome of SCA for Office 365 ProPlus is that it gives customers choice and flexibility. SCA allows customers to take advantage of existing Office 365 ProPlus licensing investments when deploying to the cloud.
Customers are able to make a deployment choice between on-premises and any authorized Service Providers’ shared datacenter to help lower cloud infrastructure costs by letting Acuutech use your existing Office 365 ProPlus licenses.
